Asian & Pacific Islander Americans in Historic Preservation (APIAHiP) is teaming up with Percent Pledge for a HistoryPin: East at Main Street workshop in celebration of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, & Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month on Tuesday - May 20 at 9AM PT | 12PM ET on Zoom!
Event Description: This interactive webinar invites participants to explore the power of place in telling the stories of Asian and Pacific Islander American (APIA) communities. Through a live demonstration of the HistoryPin platform and a hands-on activity to map meaningful places from our own lives, participants will learn how to engage with historic preservation in accessible, community-centered ways. Attendees will also contribute by identifying significant sites and stories from their own cities and communities—especially those that are less known to the general public —helping to close the gaps between our rich heritage and the historic places that represent them. About Percent Pledge: Our mission is to make workplace giving and volunteering easy for companies, engaging for employees, and impactful for the causes they support. Our vision is that every business—no matter the size, industry, or location—empowers employees to make a positive social impact. No other programs improve engagement, retention, brand, reputation, culture, and community all at once. Ours do. percentpledge.com/ About HistoryPin: East at Main Street: HistoryPin is project of Shift Collective, a partner organization that supports and designs community-driven initiatives to boost social, cultural and resource equity. “East at Main Street” is a collection within HistoryPin lead by APIAHiP, since 2014. This collection gathers photographs, videos, memories, and other materials related to places that are important to Asian and Pacific Islander American communities and help create a more complete picture of our presence and contributions in America’s past, present, and future. apiahip.org/historypin
