Ways to Give

There are many ways to support APIAHiP's work. Whether you give online, through your employer, or as part of your long-term financial planning, every contribution helps sustain community-led preservation of Asian & Pacific Islander American culture and the places we remember.

Questions about any of these options? Contact us at cameron[at]apiahip.org or (206)-414-9161.

One-Time or Recurring Gift

The easiest way to give. Donate online using a credit or debit card and choose a one-time, monthly, or annual contribution.

Donor Advised Funds (DAFs)

If you give through a donor advised fund, you can recommend a grant to APIAHiP through your DAF sponsor at any time. You can also name APIAHiP as a successor beneficiary to receive a future distribution from your fund. Contact your DAF sponsor for their process. You will need our legal name and EIN to complete the recommendation.

Employer Matching

Many employers match charitable contributions made by their employees, sometimes dollar-for-dollar. Check with your HR department or benefits portal to see if your employer participates and whether APIAHiP qualifies. Matching programs vary by company.

Legacy Giving

A legacy gift is a way to support APIAHiP's work beyond your lifetime. These gifts, sometimes called planned gifts, can be structured in several ways:

Bequest through your will or living trust. You can designate a specific dollar amount, a percentage of your estate, or the remainder after other bequests are fulfilled. Bequests are flexible and can be updated as your circumstances change.

Beneficiary designation. You can name APIAHiP as a full or partial beneficiary on a retirement account (IRA, 401(k)), life insurance policy, or bank account. These designations transfer outside of probate and can be updated at any time through your plan administrator.

Gifts of appreciated assets. Real estate, securities, and other appreciated assets can be given directly to APIAHiP. Depending on how the gift is structured, there may be tax benefits compared to liquidating assets first.

If you are considering a legacy gift or have already included APIAHiP in your estate plans, please reach out. We welcome the conversation and want to ensure your gift is directed as you intend.

Gifts of Stock or Appreciated Securities

We accept gifts of publicly traded securities, including stocks and mutual funds. Transferring appreciated assets directly to APIAHiP rather than selling them first may offer tax advantages. Contact us and we will provide transfer instructions.

Where Gifts Go

Your contributions support the programs and operations that sustain APIAHiP's long-term work, including the Placekeepers Fund, Preservation Pathways, and National Forum programming. If you have a specific interest, contact us to discuss how your gift can be directed.
