The purpose of APIAHiP’s Placekeepers Fund is to distribute resources directly to communities that are working to document, recognize, and preserve historic sites that are important to Asian and Pacific Islander American history.

GRANT TYPES

While some projects may include elements of both, applicants must choose one that best fits their project. 

Designation and Planning Grants

Request up to $25,000.

$100,000 in total awards, annually.

For communities documenting and researching, developing preservation or interpretive plans, or preparing nominations to the National Register of Historic Places or state and local equivalents for sites important to Asian or Pacific Islander American history.

On-Site Preservation Grants

Request up to $100,000.

$400,000 in total awards, annually.

For communities pursuing physical preservation, rehabilitation, restoration, or interpretive installations at historic sites important to Asian or Pacific Islander American history.
